How It Works: Online Training for PDUs

The ACHIEVE online project management training course subscription plans are a convenient way to access self-paced online courses 24/7 (short periods of downtime for system maintenance when announced). What you need is a Windows or MAC operating system, a high-speed internet connection, and Flash Player (you may need to update your version of Flash by going to www.adobe.com). The courses include audio, and the ability to print the informational contents of each course. After placing a successful order online:

1. Login at pointadvantage.com to gain access to the online training center
2. Review the Getting Started/Orientation procedure
3. Launch course lessons, covering lesson content and completing quizzes
4. Achieve a course score of at least 70% to pass each course 
5. Save the completion certificates that are automatically posted
6. Report PDUs at PMI website or with an exam application, depending on your need
7. It's simple: Login. Click. Learn! 

As an approved Global PMI® Registered Education Provider (R.E.P. #1864), Point Advantage is authorized to award contact hours and PDUs for all online courses. Completion certificates are automatically generated and posted in the training center upon successful completion of each course. All courses included in this plan can be used as part of CAPM®, PMP®, and PgMP® exam eligibility and recertification purposes. For those individuals holding the PMP® credential, all PDUs earned get reported in Category A (where there are no limits like other PDU reporting categories). So, you can earn all the PDUs possibly needed online at Point Advantage.

The ACHIEVE I: Knowledge Base online project management training subscription plan (365 days) is intended for anyone new to project management, anyone with the PMP®  credential or similar looking for a refresher and earn PDUs, and anyone looking to acquire a general knowledge base in project management practices contained in the PMBOK® Guide, 4^th Edition.

The ACHIEVE III: Get PMP® online training subscription plan is specifically designed and intended for those individuals who are pursuing the PMP® credential and want a comprehensive online self-paced solution to prepare for and pass the PMP® exam. This plan includes all the courses included in the ACHIEVE I plan, access to the online testing center that has 1000+ questions, and additional online exam preparation resources for 90 days.

The main difference: Additional online resources, training lessons, and PMP® certified instructor support are the main items ONLY included in the ACHIEVE III: Get PMP® plan. So, if you are looking to get PMP® certified, the ACHIEVE II and ACHIEVE III plans are the best choices.

Budget the same amount of time that is earned for a course. If a course is pre-determined to award 5 hours, budget 5 hours of effort. Your actual time could be slightly higher or lower than the pre-determined PDU value for the course. Each project management lesson, including any reading/studying assignments, has been designed to take about 1 hour to complete.

All courses drive off a menu driven structure that keeps track of your progress through a course. Courses in the ACHIEVE series include content summaries and examples based on the PMBOK®  Guide, 4^th Edition, coupled with quizzes and tests designed to reinforce the learning objectives. The online lesson combines the components of listening to the instructor and absorbing information that appears on the screen.

Yes. The system automatically sets a "bookmark" at the end of the last completed learning activity. Just make sure to complete an entire learning activity before exiting the course for the day, so the bookmark gets set where you stopped.

Complete the lessons, quizzes, and tests with a course score of 70% or better. If needed, just retake the quizzes and tests to improve your score. Once you pass a course the completion certificate is automatically generated and immediately available.

No. Plans can be renewed in increments of 90, 180, or 365 days before, when or after the current plan expires at a discounted price. See the Renewals Offer button on Dashboard after logging into www.pointadvantage.com to review renewal offers available (based on subscriptions previously purchased) and order renewals.

The ACHIEVE courses function properly on both Windows and MAC operating systems. The recommended browser to use is Internet Explorer 8+ for Windows users and Safari 4+ for MAC users. Alternate browsers that can be used include: Firefox 3.6 or higher and Chrome 4 or higher. Adobe Flash Player is needed to play the courses and is a free download that can be obtained at the Adobe website.

All students login at our website and must be connected to the internet to play and use the online courses. Course lesson content is available in PDF format for download, and the quizzes at the end of a lesson can be copied into a Word document (or similar) for personal use. These courses are not available on CD and are not designed for mobile devices (IPad, Android, and similar).
